For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Many people have found that believing in Jesus brings meaning and direction to life, healing to relationships, and fresh hope.  That is as true today as it has been over the centuries, as we join in the long tradition of Christian witness in Lastingham, bringing the Word of God to life through the working of the Holy Spirit.

Being a Christian does not mean that one is perfect or has all the answers.  Rather it is an incredible challenge, and cannot be described as easy.  Christians are all people on a journey of discovery, learning and maturing as they go.  We can find that journey, wonderful, exhilarating, but tough.  But it is also filled with God’s love for us, and we rejoice when we can share that journey and God’s love with others.  Wherever you are on that journey – at the beginning, looking to be baptised or ‘Christened’, wanting to get married in Church, or in need of the reassurance of God’s love and forgiveness at difficult times – we hope that you will find these pages helpful.

You don’t have to belong, or sign up, or even believe. We are used to visitors, and everyone is welcome here, whatever their reason for coming.
