10:30Lenten Study - St Cedd CentreThere must have been something very special about our Lord’s prayer life, that his disciples asked, ‘Lord, teach us to pray.’ The book ‘JESUS, MAN OF PRAYER’ by Sister Margaret CSMV meets the needs of those who are hungry for God, wish to increase their understanding and deepen their prayer life. Sister Margaret Magdalen is an Anglican nun who was brought up in an evangelical tradition and, after taking vows, worked in Botswana, eventually coming back to St Mary’s Convent, Wantage. We shall be reading her book at home, and then on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am, meeting in the St Cedd Centre, Lastingham, to talk and pray about what we have read.

Thursday 22nd February 2018 10:00Stations of the Cross - AppletonThe story of our Lord’s passion — his suffering and crucifixion during the final week of his life on earth — are at the heart of our salvation.
It takes up almost a third of the gospels, yet it is read only once a year, during Holy Week. In fact many Christians reach the end of their lives without ever having read the passion through. During Lent the Stations of the Cross provide us with a weekly opportunity to read our Lord’s passion and reflect on its meaning for us. They last about an hour and also give us the opportunity to visit our sister churches of the Benefice.
