EFUGEE VISIT TO LASTINGHAM

Wednesday 15TH August 2018

The Friends of Lastingham Church and Lastingham PCC organized a
day out for approximately 22 Syrian Refugees living in York.
This was their first visit to a village in the heart of the countryside and
we wanted to make it a very special and memorable day for them.

A great evening of favourite operatic atias and duets on the theme of 'A Woman's Life and Loves', including works by Puccini, Rossini, Mozart, Schumann, Dove and Offenbach

The Thorne Trio

An amazing concert by some of the most talented woodwind players working the in UK today, with works for Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon, including works by Mozart, Elgar and McDowell.


Murder in the Cathedral

Saturday 30th December 2017 4pm

We had planned to do this on the day and time of the original assassination.  But although it was delayed a day, due to the weather, we had a superb dramatic rendition of the verse drama by TS Eliot.  The drama, first performed in 1935, portrays the assassination of Archbishop Thomas a Becket in Canterbury Cathedral on the evening of December 29th, 1170.

THE 14th ANNUAL LASTINGHAM LECTURE AND SUPPER

Saturday  28th October at 6 pm

The speaker was the Rev’d Dr Phillip Bradford, Vicar of St John-in-Bedwardine, Worcester,  who gave a fascinating and well illustrated lecture on the subject of the British Church before St Cedd (620-664), and there was a great supper in the hall afterwards.
